Workin' Hard for the Money

One huge thing happened for me in the working group. I love Rottweilers!! Who knew?  Honestly, up until now I had only really ever seen mixes and BYB type dogs.  The show dogs were amazingly beautiful. Short, stocky, and sleek.  I had also never seen the black and white Newfoundland. In fact, I didn’t even realize that was an accepted coat color!  I looked it up-its called ‘landseer’.

Happy 4th of July!

Daisy suggests enjoying this day with an ice cream treat. In fact, this was her first (human) ice cream ever and she thinks everyday should be ice cream day now. I like how she props her nose up on the rim-she does this when she eats her dinner too.  Is anyone else getting a special treat today? (or did your dog get one for Canada Day for my northern readers?)

Cheesy Carrot Cookies

Ok, really what I want to call this post is “Coonie Crack”. I have no idea why but both girls are exceptionally in love with this treat.  Like crazy nuts!  Has anyone seen the show on Food Network called “5 Ingredient Fix”?  Well, these are my 5 ingredient dog treats!

Ingredients: 1.5 jars carrot baby food, 2 handfuls of shredded Italian blend cheese, 1 egg, 1 TBS garlic powder, 1.5 cups flour (I used garbanzo bean flour)

Mix all the ingredients. You want the dough flaky and easily rolled into a ball. So,  for the picture below-you’d add a bit more flour. If your dough is too dry, you can add a little more carrot baby food.

Use half to three quarters of a teaspoon-flour your hands and roll dough into a ball, then flatten into a cookie. If your forget to flour your hands-everything will end up a sticky mess! Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Allow to cool on baking sheet for 10 minutes.

Transfer to a plate or cooling rack and allow to cool.  Beware of dog stampede that occurs when these things are handed out!

Daisy loves all food-so she has no issue showing off to get a couple cookies.

But…even reserved Bella would do a dance for these yummy treats!

The Mish-Mash Group

The Non-Sporting group is full of odd characters. It seems like they just said “Well, we don’t know what to do with the rest of you-so just go over here”.  You have dogs that really do sports like the Dalmatians with their road trials.  Some people still use poodles to hunt with. Then you have fun companion dogs like the Bichon, and more protective dogs like the Chow. This group is just confused!

I will say that I love the look of a show Chow. Their coat looks soft and cuddly even if they aren’t the personality I would like. I was also glad to see the Shiba Inu as small. So many I have seen out and about are huge! Not fat, but way larger/taller than what the standard says they should be.
