Two Pic Tuesday!

Thanks to Grannie and Grandpa for coordinating the DSLR to make its way to my house for the weekend! It takes such better pictures than my point and shoot!

So, there are some blogs out there I can’t comment on! I’ve read from other folks that sometimes there are issues with commenting on Blogger blogs that use the imbedded comment form (rather than the pop-up).  One of my fellow coonhounds, Prudence, over at A Coonhounds Tales is one of the blogs I can’t comment on. Another one I’m having issues with is Chihuahuas are not Sheep which is disappointing because I love the pictures she takes of her dogs! Anyone else having these issues? Is it a setting on their blog or my computer?

Oh Dear. I have an Issue.

It seems my camera cord did not make the trip with me. I can even say with 99.9% certainty that I remember packing it. Too bad the fact it is still at Grannie and Grandpa’s means that I did not in fact pack it and I am now making up memories.

This means Daisy’s hotel pictures are trapped in my camera for the time being and you’ll just have to wait a bit to see them.

It also means I’ll have to improvise and use Iphone pics for tomorrow. You didn’t forget about tomorrow did you?

It is Nice

when your dogs like coming to you. Bella typically has good recall, unless something scares her.  Daisy’s recall is great in the house. It is also pretty good outside if there aren’t squirrels out mocking her existence. But put a squirrel in her line of sight and “come” might as well become a four letter word.

Well, confession. Bella’s picture was taken with a zoom lens-so she really wasn’t close to me and with me holding the camera-she stopped short. So much for recall… but the zoom lens is almost the only way to get a face shot of her. And Daisy is a camera hog!  Seriously, all I have to do is bend down with the camera and all the sudden my coonie wants to hang out right in front of me!!

Bacon Cheeseburger Ballz!!

Yep, Daisy was sitting watching me cook. This was my first attempt at doggie treat making. I didn’t use a recipe (although I had recently read through a dog treat cookbook).  Normally, she doesn’t really pay attention to my cooking. I have no idea why she was so interested this time. Maybe that says something about the food I am normally cooking for myself? Of course, since it wasn’t a recipe I don’t have the exact amounts for the ingredients. But here is my first photo instructional blog for treat making. Add in some seasoning, and they could work for the humans too!

First: about 2/3rd a pound of ground beef and two eggs

Second: Add cheese. I used a mix of cheddar and Italian blend. A small handful each.

Third: Add bacon. I used about 5 slices of pre-cooked bacon since it’s what I had on hand.

Forth: add a couple tablespoons of flour and mix well

Fifth: Form into teaspoon sized ballz and bake at 350° for 20 minutes

Ta-Da!!

Note Daisy’s crazy eyes while trying out the grub

Even Bella would look towards the camera for these treats!  Amazing!

I did learn one valuable lesson during my first try at making dog treats. Use aluminum foil on your pans. Seriously people-cheese hard baked onto a pan (even a non stick one) is not fun!

Hiking Day!

So, I managed to get the girls out for a hike before I totally felt under the weather. They were very happy to get out and see something new in the world.  Daisy, as always, carried our supplies.  Bella thought for sure the sign was about fall on her-she did NOT like standing there.

This is one of several trails built around an old dam and mill. The mill isn’t in operation but the old covered bridge house is still standing.

The girls were tired after the hike-and Bella didn't like the falling water noise.

The first part of the trail was HOT. There wasn’t any trees and the dirt was really sandy. And there were HILLS!  Coming from an area where everything has always been flat the hills were hard for all of us!  I think they would have been fine if they weren’t sandy.  Then we got to the shaded area closer to the lake the hike was really nice.  This was also the first trail that had tree hash marks to mark the way to go. Living in an urban area before-those just weren’t necessary.

Hurry up mom! We are ready to go!

Wait! Don't leave us!

The girls had a great time at this new park.  All new scenery and new smells and new adventure.  They also seem to have an innate understanding of trails. Or, they like to take the easy road. No going off into the brush-they stay right on track.  It’s hard to hold leashes and film and try to walk, not trip, and hold the camera steady.

The girls are already wishing me better so they can go out again.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the pet mom’s out there!  And Happy Mother’s Day to Grannie!
