Two steps forward and one step back!

My sweet Bella.  My sweet Bella with anxiety.  Bella has been on Prozac for 3 full weeks.  Inside my place it is like I have a new dog. My parents were here this weekend and grannie was amazed at her favorite grandchild’s (yes, she has a favorite)  new attitude.  Bella has been what I call a crate dog.  She willingly has put herself in her crate (door open) for 22 hours a day. She has felt safe there, or safer than anywhere else she could find.  Well, now she is out and about and enjoying the living room.

Grandpa came over and she didn’t really run away. She didn’t hide in her crate either.  She did like to have the coffee table between them but then she’d relax and go sniff him to try to figure out what he’s about.  She took some cheese from him too. Cheese is pretty powerful in this house.  LOL

I will admit its kinda weird to now have two dogs laying about watching what I’m doing.  Plus, it’s easier to trip and stumble with two dogs underfoot, but it’s totally worth it to see Bella so relaxed in her own home.

Of course, with good comes bad!  An air conditioner turned on right as we walked by on our walk and Bella freaked and ran into me. As I was off balance she pulled out of her collar.  The last time she got scared and pulled her collar It took almost 2 hours to find her.  This time she darted about 15 feet, tail tucked then stopped to look around.  I got down and started calling her but she was frozen.  Then someone else’s air turned on in front of her so she came back and just puddled near me.  She was fine once I got the collar on and started walking again.  I was happy she just didn’t run away like last time.  Oh, and for those reading she does have a martingale collar.  She’s just extra slippery!

Now I leave you with some hunting pictures, courtesy of grandpa, from this weekend.  Daisy is really teaching Bella the  ins and outs of squirrel hunting.  Daisy just looks so happy and she gets so tired she can’t hold her tongue in anymore!

They.are.right.there!

...trying to figure it out

Happy girl!

We're on it mom!

Oh Happy Weekend!

I like the weekends. They are too short, which many people would agree no matter who you are or your course in life.

Saturday started bright and early with a meetup group at a dog park near me.  I had met all the people there and their dogs.  It was good fun.  There were several other dogs not associated with our group and the dogs had a great time running around.  Daisy and Bella kept checking to make sure there weren’t any critters up in the trees and they did chase the tennis ball a couple of times.  It was a small park, but there was plenty of shade and water for everyone.  The biggest downside was the heat and humidity!

After the park we drove down to a local dog boutique that was giving away free doggie ice cream.  It was cute, shaped into dog bones.  They had big ones and little ones.  Daisy ate hers and Bella’s.  Bella was too freaked out by the new place to focus on anything but getting out the door.  I did see a rhinestone collar that would look fabulous on Bella and I think I’m going to take g-ma over there for Christmas gift shopping!  Daisy did show some interest in a squeaky toy but I think that would annoy me so we’ll skip that idea for now.

We went to the regular dog park in the evening.  The girls had great fun playing with balls and smelling other dogs.

This morning I was a bit lazy. I just took them for a walk, then went out and had bfast then on to grocery shopping. The girls had a couple other walks.  This evening has been filled with thunder so I left Bella here and just took Daisy to the park.  It had rained just a few hours before.  She found a fresh squirrel trail but there was a fence in between where she was and where she needed to be.  So, I opened the gate in btween the park areas and she took off.

Daisy is such a beautiful animal!  Her whole body is tense and focused on her goal.  She looks sooo happy when she has a squirrel up a tree. She bays to let me know where she put them and that she’s ready for me.

Now we are home and it’s storming.  Bella is hiding in her crate curled up and Daisy is standing at the glass doors watching all the action.  She can hear the rain out the front door and keeps running over to listen, trying to figure out what it is.

I’m charging my camera battery to try and get my non existent readers some new pictures and video!

Good Day All!

So, today we all woke up to almost 90 degree heat in the apartment.  Yep, air was broke.  After the morning potty walk the girls decided to be dramatic.  Daisy came and collapsed in front of the fan and Bella was sitting right beside her panting up a storm.  Gee thanks girls, as if I wasn’t already feeling guilty for leaving you here so I could go and earn your kibble!

Someone at work takes their dog to a doggy daycare near me.  So I called them first thing this morning and they could take the girls and they could get a bath.  I took them at lunch and they went for a few hours of daycare fun.  This place is awesome, I took a tour after work.  They have different play areas, one with a pool.  Apparently Bella liked that one.  Daisy, not so much.  They also do boarding there and I think it could be a good place to take the girls.  They could deal with their diets and needs and they could be together.

Bella did not want to go in when we got there but when I picked them up she seemed really happy.

So, we came home and I wanted to eat dinner.  There was a SQUIRREL on the balcony.  Oh my.  Nothing like a 65 pound coonhound throwing herself against the glass.  Actually at first she stood 100% still, with her nose pressed against the glass. Then the craziness trying to go through the glass.  In her defense, the squirrel sat there teasing and taunting her from the banister.

Then this evening, it was a walk at the park.  No, like an actual walk in the park.  Then when we came home we got to try Nupro for the first time.  Both of the girls liked it I think. Nothing like stinky liver gravy!  Yum!  Daisy got a good case of the zoomies and now both girls are passed out sleeping.

It's right there!!
