Wow busy weekend!

Ok, ok, I know it’s already Tuesday! We had a big weekend with Grannie and I was too tired to type!

So, Saturday morning we went to a meetup group at a doggie water park. When we first arrived I was a bit disappointed by how it looked because I thought it was kinda small for how expensive it was. Boy was I wrong!! This place was awesome if your dogs like the water! They had all sorts of fountains and sprayers and tunnels of water plus two wading pools.

Bell a had a blast! She ran through the water and played with dogs and even jumped through the wading pools a bit. Daisy on the other hand had fun, but did not like the water. There was plenty of room for her to hang around without getting wet. I got her to chase some tennis balls. She would run around the spray water instead of running in a straight line. A couple time the ball landed where water was spraying and she would try to get it but wouldn’t get wet. I was also trying to get her in the wading pool (like 1 foot deep) by tossing the tennis ball near the edge but she would keep her paws on dry land and lean into pool to get the ball. it was cute. I might not go there again unless a group of us goes because it’s kinda expensive for what you get. Bella likes the beach just as much and it’s free.

optical illusion, she isn't in the water!

I really want the ball!

Hi there!

Saturday evening we went to the dog park so the girls could run around and boy did they ever!!!  They ended up chasing each other, wrestling, and playing bitey face! I was so glad Grannie go to see them have that type of fun.  They both seem to enjoy it so I hope it happens more often.  It seems they both have to be in the right kind of playful mood at the same time.  Neither one overpowers the other too much.  Daisy does like to grab Bella’s throat but she doesn’t clamp down. Bella will give it right back to her though.

Bitey face!

I'll get your leg!

The girls were really sad to see Grannie go.  Now they expect 24/7 petting and attention like I don’t have work to do!!  She spoils them so much but of course they love every minute of it!

Um, mom, you ok in there?

That was what Bella was asking this afternoon. For whatever reason my body decided to catch up on a months worth of sleep in one day. I fell asleep for 4 hours!  Bella came in to check on me and it woke me up.  How sweet!

I think tomorrow I’m going to buy Daisy a flexi leash.  Yes, she will be one of the horrible dogs people hate that run up and greet them or sniff them and runs up trying to greet their dogs whether their dogs like it or not. I will try and control that but maybe being far away from me will make her want to poop on a leash?  I don’t think its the proximity to me since she’ll poop off leash right next to me but I’m frustrated and tired!

Since Daisy doesn’t poop on lead and I don’t have a yard, we head to the dog park 7 days a week. I put her in doggie daycare a time or two a week and I think she poops there which does help things but Bella doesn’t poop there so she still needs to be walked when we get home.  She also doesn’t poop if their are squirrels to bay at, which of course they are everywhere! So our regular dog park had squirrels in 2 of the sections and an aggressive dog in the thurd. plus, Bella was freaking out over the thunder.  So, I loaded them up and took to them to a different dog park.

I did laugh when I watched the puggle go roll around in the mud near the watering stand at the dog park.  Then, once good and wet and dirty it went and rolled in the sand.  That was great!  LOL

Tomorrow morning Bella and I are going to the dog beach.  Daisy doesn’t like it, so she gets to stay home!

Hello to all my Saturday blog hoppers!

I have some great blogs I read, but for some reason I can not post to blogger/blogspot blogs. I tell it to put the comment with my wordpress account, enter the name.  So either my comments aren’t being approved, or I am not doing something right, or maybe it’s my computer.

A few of my favorite blogs:

Greyt Days
Hound Girl
The Teacher’s Pets

(not exactly) Wordless Wednesday

Wow the holiday was busy!  Hope everyone fared well. I also was busy doing all my chores for this week by this morning since they are working on a water main near my house.  Water might be contaminated and dirty until Friday.

Last night the girls had so much fun at the dog park!  Both of them chased balls over and over.  Bella was feeling a little frisky too.  For the first time my girls actual wrestled and played bitey face and play growled at each other!  It was so much fun to watch.  Bella really participated including instigating an ‘attack’ after a quick break.  I just love that she is learning to be a dog.  She is out of her crate so much now that I actually had trouble getting her into it yesterday morning. She had to be locked up so maintenance could come.

Tonight there was just thunderstorms and rain. yuck. I made a 5 minutes run to let Daisy pee and poop at the dog park then came right back home.  Have I told y’all Daisy won’t poop on leash?  Yep, I live in an apartment without a yard and my dog won’t use the bathroom on a leash.  It can be a slight issue at times.

I would also like to start trying some nosework with Daisy.  There isn’t any classes or teachers near me but I hope with her natural scent ability and some good treats she’ll get it down pretty well with just us.  Um, day one didn’t go to well. I would put the treat into the open box with her watching me, put it on the ground and call her over.  I might as well had a third eye with the way she looked at me.  Maybe tomorrow….

Now I leave you with a picture of my sweetness.

I wish it weren't Monday

Who gets the ball?

Yesterday the girls and I had a great day.

It started with a meetup at a new dog park.  It was huge!  The benefits of land out in the country I suppose.  We met a couple other dog owners (plus all the dogs that were there anyway).  The girls had sooooo much fun!  They chased each other, they tried to wrestle a bit too.  Of course they tracked all over that place just to see what they could smell.  Then there was the mud pit.  All last week our area had a ton of rain, so in this low spot was a good sized mud/water pit.  Bella loved it!  She ran through it, laid in it, and rolled all over the place.  She and Daisy would be running and Daisy would stop right on the edge.  I think she knew she’d get a bath if she kept running and got dirty.  Bella also met this cute Italian greyhound she kept trying to chase.  If was funny and a bit sad.  There was no way she could keep up but she kept trying!

We were all tired and come home to take a nap when we got home. Our evening dog park run was cut short by rain showers, but the girls did some play time with a couple puppies.  The girls are so good with the young ones.

Then came my busy night. I made my first frosty paws treats, which the girls haven’t tried yet. They are a mixture of unsweetened applesauce, vanilla yogurt, and p-nut butter. I also stuffed a couple kongs for Daisy will wellness core fish. Bella had her chicken boiled, deboned, minced, and mixed with some boiled egg.  Her meds right now have decreased her appetite so it has to be something really good to make her want to eat.

Last night Bella even chewed on a bully stick for a while, just like a real dog! I think that Prozac (Reconcile) is taking over her brain.

Daisy is doing ok in her new alcove instead of her crate. I’ve been putting her there anytime she won’t be left alone too long. When she has a bout of nausea, she tries to eat anything in sight, which is how she ended up with a bowel obstruction and emergency surgery.  Right now during the day, I still put her in her crate.  Plus, the pest control guys came today she she had to be crated no matter what.

This evening we went a little early to the dog park and they had fun. there was a 4 month old cute puppy that just followed them everywhere. It was really cute.  The mosquitoes were horrible, even with it still being hot out. Thank goodness for bug spray.

A video of them “fetching” notice how the ball doesn’t exactly make it back.  LOL

Oh Happy Weekend!

I like the weekends. They are too short, which many people would agree no matter who you are or your course in life.

Saturday started bright and early with a meetup group at a dog park near me.  I had met all the people there and their dogs.  It was good fun.  There were several other dogs not associated with our group and the dogs had a great time running around.  Daisy and Bella kept checking to make sure there weren’t any critters up in the trees and they did chase the tennis ball a couple of times.  It was a small park, but there was plenty of shade and water for everyone.  The biggest downside was the heat and humidity!

After the park we drove down to a local dog boutique that was giving away free doggie ice cream.  It was cute, shaped into dog bones.  They had big ones and little ones.  Daisy ate hers and Bella’s.  Bella was too freaked out by the new place to focus on anything but getting out the door.  I did see a rhinestone collar that would look fabulous on Bella and I think I’m going to take g-ma over there for Christmas gift shopping!  Daisy did show some interest in a squeaky toy but I think that would annoy me so we’ll skip that idea for now.

We went to the regular dog park in the evening.  The girls had great fun playing with balls and smelling other dogs.

This morning I was a bit lazy. I just took them for a walk, then went out and had bfast then on to grocery shopping. The girls had a couple other walks.  This evening has been filled with thunder so I left Bella here and just took Daisy to the park.  It had rained just a few hours before.  She found a fresh squirrel trail but there was a fence in between where she was and where she needed to be.  So, I opened the gate in btween the park areas and she took off.

Daisy is such a beautiful animal!  Her whole body is tense and focused on her goal.  She looks sooo happy when she has a squirrel up a tree. She bays to let me know where she put them and that she’s ready for me.

Now we are home and it’s storming.  Bella is hiding in her crate curled up and Daisy is standing at the glass doors watching all the action.  She can hear the rain out the front door and keeps running over to listen, trying to figure out what it is.

I’m charging my camera battery to try and get my non existent readers some new pictures and video!
